Rita Burke is the Founder and Managing Director of True North Sales Group. She is an accomplished sales and business development expert with a proven track record in the media, technology and consulting industries. A passionate and driven professional, she is skilled in new business development, consultative selling and strategic sales planning. She works with companies and sales teams to drive new revenue, improve performance and deliver measurable results.

Professional Experience

Rita began her sales career at Ziff-Davis Media where she spent 15+ years mastering the art and science of selling. A superb sales leader, she sold advertising space and managed the ad sales teams for PC Tech Journal and PC/Computing driving increased revenue, selling key vendors in new categories and introducing performance planning for achieving success in reaching goals.

As the breadth and depth of media offerings from the company grew, so did Rita's impact and responsibility. As the Director-International Sales & Marketing she managed the US sales team, designed and delivered advertising sales training programs to local staff in France, Germany, the UK and Mexico while growing overall revenue year after year.

In her roles as Executive Director and EVP Corporate Sales she designed and implemented a 360 degree sales process company-wide to identify and sell customized, incremental cross media advertising and sponsorship programs online (ZDNet), on TV (ZDTV) and in print (PC Magazine, eWeek, Computer Shopper, PC/Computing). She also established and developed the corporate team to drive new revenue through 'opportunity' account acquisition.

Rita then joined Rising Tide, where as a senior consultant she worked with a diverse group of clients helping them identify new revenue streams, extend their brands with new products and increase sales with new channels. She successfully provided strategic advice and actionable solutions to Scientific American, Reader’s Digest, The Hollywood Reporter and the Yellow Pages Publisher Association.

Building on her experience across multiple media platforms Rita joined Zinio, a digital magazine provider, as member of the management team. As the President/Publisher Sales she established and expanded the publisher client base to 400+ magazine titles, negotiating portfolio agreements with key publishers including Hachette Filipacchi Media (Elle, Car & Driver, Woman’s Day), Bonnier (Saveur, Garden Design, Popular Science) Dwell, Outside, Rodale (Men’s Health & Women’s Health) Kiplinger’s Personal Finance, TV Guide and AdAge.
